An image tells a "thousand" words. If so, then video do that 25 times a second. When you are considering shooting your own videos, pay attention to what you're filming so it reflects the right message and not a diffused one.
Of course, you should star in it. At least a minimum if you have a problem with your image. Then think about the background. Even if the main message is at the front of the image, what does the background shows?
It's always best to have a plain, uniform background so the viewer won't be distracted. Or you can use some still images carefully chosen to match your message. This is easily done nowadays with not to basic editing software with a function called "Chroma-key". The concept is to be filmed in front of a green wall and then later replace the green colour with another video or image/powerpoint.
Remember that if you do that, the part which is hidden by your front image should not cause distraction to the viewer willing to guess what it represents.
